Licensed Independent Counseling Social Worker
Helping individuals regain clarity, confidence, and emotional balance.
My Journey Into Therapy
Kate Smith is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who was born and raised in Gadsden, Alabama. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Jacksonville State University in 2017 and her Master of Social Work from The University of Alabama in 2019.
Kate works with children, adults, and families using a warm, client-centered approach. She believes that meaningful therapy begins by meeting each person where they are, honoring their individual experiences, and respecting their right to make choices about their own life.
Kate has extensive experience supporting individuals with ADHD and also understands its impact from a parent’s perspective. This professional and personal insight helps her appreciate the importance of understanding each person’s unique needs and creating a treatment plan that supports confidence, growth, and self-acceptance.
Outside of her work, Kate enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris, and their two sons. One of her favorite reminders is: “You are the one thing in this world, above all other things, that you must never give up on.”

My ADHD Journey
ADHD is more than just a diagnosis to me—it is something I have experienced both professionally and personally. Walking alongside my own child through an ADHD diagnosis has given me firsthand insight into the challenges that individuals and families often face. From navigating educational systems and advocating for appropriate accommodations to understanding the emotional impact ADHD can have on daily life, I know that the journey can feel overwhelming at times.
Throughout my career, I have worked with children, teens, and adults with ADHD, helping them better understand how their brains work and identify the strengths that often accompany the diagnosis. I am passionate about helping parents learn practical strategies to support their children at home, in school, and in social settings so they can thrive and build confidence in their abilities.
My goal is not simply to identify ADHD, but to help individuals and families understand what it means, advocate for the support they need, and develop tools that lead to long-term success. Every person with ADHD is unique, and I believe that with the right understanding and support, they can reach their full potential.

What Makes My Practice Unique
Your Journey
At New Clarity Counseling, I believe every person has a unique story. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, I take the time to understand the experiences, relationships, and life events that have shaped who you are today. My goal is to uncover the root causes of your struggles—not simply place a label on them.
You are Unique
As both a therapist and someone who has navigated life's own challenges, I understand that healing isn't about fitting people into a box. Every individual deserves to be seen, heard, and understood as a whole person. That's why I tailor therapy to your specific needs, strengths, and goals instead of relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.
Changes That Last
Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, relationship concerns, or simply feeling overwhelmed, you'll find a compassionate, judgment-free environment where we work together to create meaningful and lasting change.
